Whoops! Missed posting my weekly update last week. I have to have some sort of mechanism to keep me more accountable.. perhaps a public shaming of some sort? haha.. anyway.. on to this week’s update for myself.
Financial Freedom – looks like this month and next I’ll be set back a bit as I’m making good on some borrowed funds from my brother, as well as a gift for my mentor and various other shopping expenses 🙂
SEO/Career – learned a good amount of stuff with respect to 301 redirects through WordPress, which really excited me. Only learned in theory about “regex” or regular expressions to do 301 redirects for a unwieldy number of url’s that would be a better fit for big clients with many hundreds to thousands of pages. I’m finally getting the hang of the process of Local SEO, however, because of my relative “n00bness” and my teammate, we’re having to hustle to keep things in order. It’s been a crazy month, but now that Penguin and Panda have been delivered, there should be some calm after the storm…
Fitness Phenomenon + – did some killer workouts, involving deadlifts and push presses with a barbell. Totally wasted my shoulders. I’m getting the hang of kipping pullups, as I have the upper body strength to execute them, but my form is still a bit off. Now that I’ll be joining the crew over at Crossfit Toronto, I’ll be kicking ass and getting ripped at the same time lol.
Illustrator – I finished a quick infographic via Easel.ly last week for Elle Cuisine, however, it was done entirely through a WYSIWYG drag and drop interface which does nothing for improving my Illustrator skillset. I’m going to take Gabriel’s advice and try to deconstruct that infographic and recreate it through Illustrator. Shouldn’t be that tough as it’s mostly a few layers, using the circle tool, creating a banner and playing around with Typography.
