While I haven’t updated in about two weeks, I still have been journalling. It’s been an eventful last two weeks, and I’ve read a few awesome articles from Buster Benson’s post “The Habit Manifesto” and Chris McCann’s post on “The Science of Habit”.
Both Buster and Chris, much like myself, have a very methodical approach to how to instill behaviour modification and habit forming. It’s fascinating to see how similar their approaches are to mine and also the differences in how we go about it changing habits.
I think for myself, I’ve been doing more than focusing on more than on area at a time. To a certain extent it has worked with varying degrees of success. If I were to focus on only one area, I can only imagine what that would be like. Right now, the habits that I’m really putting a conscious effort into are Sleep, Affirmations and Learning.
At this point, my gut is telling me that focusing on getting a good night of sleep and putting up a reward of the ritual of coffee immediately after I wake up is the way to go, and the two others will follow.
In any case, onto this past week’s weekly review!
Financial Freedom – put away 80% of my pay cheque to debt load. According to my estimates and Mint.com, I should be about 3 months away from clearing away my debt before my other responsibilities kick in.
Fitness Phenomoneon – all right! Kicked butt in the gym last week with a good amount of PR’s along with going to Crossfit 4 times in a row! I kinda slacked off over the past weekend, but I’m in this for the long haul 🙂 I’m pretty darn proud that I was about to bench 165 pounds too. Heh.
SEO/Career – There needs to be more of a rigorous focus on process at work. The client work-load is okay, but I need to be more ruthlessly efficient. That involves using scrapers, Twitter, Trello, Excel and scripts to improve my workflow along with sharing with my co-workers on what link opportunities are out there for our clients.
It’s going to be tough keeping up the pace as I have school coming around the corner…
Adobe Illustrator – I watched a few more videos over on TutsPlus on their Information Graphic course on their Color, Math and Variables modules. I haven’t truly touched Illustrator and creating in a while. This needs to change.
